The International Design Project Semester (IDPS) is an innovative
training programme which addresses the new professional demands engineers
of the future will face. The programme focuses on industrial design and
adheres to the learning outcomes established by the European Higher Education Area.

Smart Structures Economic Feasibility Study
In recent years, the Civil Engineering world has seen a
change in how to preserve and monitor structures. Thanks to Smart
Structure systems, which capture data on pathologies by use of
different sensors, deformations in structures can be noticed and
anticipated. Different research works are being undertaken on
buildings by a variety of institutions such as Neàpolis in Vilanova I la Geltrù.

ECHO project
There are many environmental issues that inflict aquatic life across the planet.
Proper monitoring can be essential with preserving aquatic life and preventing
any further damage. EPSEVG and Laboratory of Applied Bioacoustics (LAB) sponsored
a project, called Project ECHO, that would make monitoring aquatic easier and
more efficient. This project's main goal was improve the deployment of monitoring
equipment process LAB already had in place.

Accessibility and Universal Design
Each year, the Polytechnic University of Catalonia proposes a more or less similar accessibility project allowing the engineering students to make their best to help people by creating devices. In this one, the accessibility team must find how to build a device for two clients, who are two boys using wheelchairs. The best solutions must be found because the clients will live with them during a long time, even all their childhood.

SUMLUNG: Neonatal and paediatric lung simulator
Simulation in medicine as a way of teaching the future professionals is one of the most
effective ways for students to acquire both theoretical and practical knowledge. This project is
focused on simulating, in medical education, the scenario of a paediatric or neonatal patient
that needs to be assisted by mechanical ventilation.

Outboard Electric Propulsion (May 2013)
The need for this project came forth from the fishing
industry. Fishermen need small boats to maneuver from the ports to
deep sea safely and with great precision. Nowadays people are aware
of importance of using the clean forms of energy to reduce the level
of pollutions as well as find more sustainable solutions. The fact
that fossil fuels are running out and the prices are getting more
expensive causes that people...

Node – It is an element of the street which does things,
communicates
with each other and with the world, and also, if
necessary, gives
light”, this description was taken from Neàpolis
introduction meeting
with EPS and IDPS. The Urban Node is a part of
